Mutant Movement is a Leeds based DJ, GIGS & EVENTS Production Company.
Appearing at events around England, playing New Wave, Post Punk & Retro Alternative searching near & far for unique tribute bands that fit these genres.
This is our first time at THE BACKROOM, we are hoping this will feel like home - for LEEDS MUTANT MOVEMENT afternoon / early evening events.
Please vote for the tracks you'd like to hear at this link:- bit.ly/75poll
The idea is not to just play records released in a particular year but more about recreating the buzz that was around at the time, including tracks released on record in previous years but still very relevant as well as those not yet on record but a staple part of an artist's live show, b-sides & album tracks or sessions recorded for radio broadcast such as on John Peel's show.
Either way, every track I play at these anniversary events were heard in the year we celebrate and no doubt in someone's list of favourite tracks of that year.
1975 was probably the first year that saw the artists of yesteryear start to get pushed out to make way for a revolution in music and youth culture, yes it was 50 years since we the the emergence of Punk!
Not only will you hear the tracks that bands were playing live around the world, most notably London & New York, I will also be playing some of the songs from the 50s & 60s that inspired the bands and went on to be covered by, Punk, New Wave & Alternative artists.

Leeds, our fourth year running with the Mighty Oasish, this time with the ultimate tribute to The Killers, an awesome indie double bill.
After a SOLD OUT show in 2024, this looks set to be the biggest night yet so don't hold back, buy your tickets now to avoid disappointment.
Since forming in 2004, Oasish have taken the tribute world by storm. The attention to detail is incredible and many have hailed them as being better than the real thing! Definitely the best Oasis show you're ever likely to see again, going by the way the infamous siblings still can't be in the same room together.
Oasish have performed at Wembley Stadium, The National Indoor Arena, Manchester Academy and are the only band to perform at the now world famous Glastonbudget Festival EVERY single year its been running.
The Killaz UK are the ultimate tribute dedicated to the live shows of the Killers. Don't miss this chance to catch the full live show from these guys, you may have seen them play a shorter set at one of the many festivals they've played over the years but Leeds Irish Centre is just the right size to get up close and personal with the lads and watch them play all the greats from the Killers back catalogue,.

The Echoes of the Bunnymen show is an aural tribute to the alternative Fab Four featuring some of the best tracks from the original line up’s amazing run of albums. Played by musicians who are huge fans, authentically trying to recreate the early sound of one of the UK’s best ever indie bands.
At this present moment, the band have sold out every show to date so don't hesitate, get your tickets before they're gone! Since Will Sergeant attended one of their shows and said how 'bloody brilliant' they are, Bunnymen fans have gone and found out for themselves, I don't think I'm letting the cat out of the bag when I say these are going to be huge!
Joining them for this alternative 80s trip down memory lane will be another tribute, to the band who toured the States with them in 1987, New Order and who better than their number one tribute, True Order? Having emulated the sound and attitude of New Order to ensure a great night of classic deep cuts for over a decade, True Order return to Leeds after 7 years since one of Mutant Movement's first tribute events back in 2018.

With THREE anniversary events per year now, we're focusing on 1985 when Goth had got a foothold whilst great pop music was still produced!

Expect to hear a blend of the best in Pop along with a few dance classics of the day and what you’ve come to know Mutant Movement for, the biggest Alternative Anthems to keep that dancefloor packed all afternoon and into the evening.
